The Shropshire Way

The Shropshire Way

The Shropshire Way was devised by Ramblers in 1980 providing a long distance path of 140 miles through the best of Shropshire’s beautiful countryside.  Some 20 years later the original route was upgraded by Shropshire Council to promote tourism. Subsequently it has been expanded to provide more links to market towns and more opportunities for shorter circular walks.

Whilst this was well received at the time, it has become evident that the web of routes that are now part of the Shropshire Way cause some confusion on the ground. This means that there is no defined route that a long distance walker could complete and say they have walked the Shropshire Way.

We would like to know your views about a proposed ‘Shropshire Way Main Route’ and the line it should take.  Please follow the link below to access a short survey to give us your opinion, the 4 routes are in pdf form on the proposal page and clicking on “How to get involved” will access the survey.
